Christine Knapp, CMT
Christine began her study of massage in 2007 at The Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing in Culver City, CA. She has attended multiple courses, a variety of conferences and studied a broad spectrum of modalities, from myofascial release to visceral manipulation to seminars on pain science and the neuroscience of sensation. She is a NCBTMB-certified oncology massage therapist and member of the Society for Oncology Massage and studied hospital-based massage at Mayo Clinic. She continues to study various forms of massage and bodywork.
Subscribing to the "kindling" philosophy, Christine views the body as an expression of an individual's experience. Small tensions and minor aches add up until there is a spark, some event that causes pain to flare up in the body. Small adjustments can mean the difference between chronic pain and occasional discomfort, beginning with the scales of pain tipping back into a manageable level. Massage can be a useful tool toward that end.
Christine moved from Wisconsin to Southern California in 2001. She enjoys tai chi on the beach, painting, writing, and listening to music of all kinds. A volunteer at heart, she encourages anyone in Southern California to visit two of her favorite volunteer organizations, http://www.hearttouch.org/ and http://www.boxer-rescue-la.com/, or http://www.volunteermatch.org/ to find a volunteer organization that might interest you.
